“Speed Dating” Sooner Rotary Style!!

One of the focuses of Sooner Rotary for 2011 - 2012 is providing opportunities for getting to know our fellow Rotarians. Today Christi Moore provided a program that allowed new members and old to become better acquainted. After recognizing those who have joined Sooner Rotary over the last year, old and new were asked to pair up and take 5 minutes to answer various questions posed by Christi. We learned things like the last books read, the most amazing places visited, the craziest things done and ways Rotary has changed our lives. Sooner Rotarians have seldom been at a loss for words and today was no exception. As the final timer rang out, stories were still being told, laughter was heard throughout the dining hall and we all knew of acquaintances as new friends.

After a stirring rendition of "Home, Home on the Range" Grover Ozmon style, announcements were made by Conni regarding the Community Service Committee activities for the coming year. Ongoing activities for the coming year include: Quarterly Trash Pick-up and Breakfast; Bell Ringing for Salvation Army; Sooner Mall Safety School; and Secret Santa for School Children.  Conni mentioned other possible activities and requested club members submit other suggestions for other activities be emailed to her. Mary Sallee mentioned a need for supporting the Tuesday morning breakfast program for Food and Shelter for Friends, which is an ongoing service activity.

And the winner is!!!! Food and Shelter for Friends has been selected to receive proceeds from Le Tour de Vin. James Harp reminded everyone of the three new applications awaiting approval and Steve Clark announced the next Lunch Buddies would be held at the Service Station Restaurant in Norman on Thursday at noon.
